There's only so many times you can rotate a handful of T-shirts and alternate between denim shorts and your favourite midi skirt before you start praying for autumn again and the endless outfit options thanks to layering. If like us, you're feeling a little uninspired by your summer wardrobe (and we're only really a few days into the sunny season) follow the lead of some of the most standout style stars on our social media feeds.

Whether you need some new ideas on how to do denim or some tips for summer accessories, the girls ahead will help you see your wardrobe in a whole new light and inspire you to wear your existing clothing in different ways. E.g. try wearing your favourite spaghetti-strap dress over a trusty old T-shirt and finish off with strappy sandals a la Gala Gonzalez. Notepad and pen at the ready...

Camille Charrière

Blogger Camille nails casual chic, pairing a ruffled Isa Arfen skirt with a Levi's T-shirt, Robert Clergerie slippers (FYI everyone's in flats this season) and a Louis Vuitton bag. Throw in a cup of coffee and copy Charrière's insouciance to properly capture her flawless French girl cool.

Margaret Zhang (right)

We were initially distracted by the ever-lovely Lily Aldridge in this pic but then we saw the photographer, writer and stylist Margaret Zhang 's take on tomboy chic. Summer doesn't have to mean floaty dresses paired with espadrilles or sandals – Zhang proves that a Hawaiian shirt and trousers can be just as feminine and the perfect outfit choice for the sunny months. Extra points for the feathered fringe.

Naomi Shimada

If ever there was a real life version of the red dress emoji lady it's model and film-maker Naomi Shimada. Converse aren't just for teaming with jeans and a tee, they look just as good, if not better, with a sultry red dress too.

Anneli Bush

A quick glance at this image and you might suspect Anneli is in a Paige blouse and vintage cut-offs, right? Wrong. Bar the Maxmara sunglasses, the Scandi blogger is in head-to-toe Primark. Form an orderly queue at the checkout.

Djuna Bel (right)

Djuna is a former model turned celebrity stylist who has worked with everyone from Zoe Kravitz to MIA, Ryan Gosling to Léa Seydoux, so it's no wonder she has the dream wardrobe herself. Add an inner circle including Langley Fox, Camille Rowe and Monika Jagaciak plus the best vintage fashion finds in LA and it's safe to say she's the epitome of Cali cool. This summer it's all about the red or yellow tint sunglasses and embroidered bomber jackets.

Angela Scanlon

We've been loyal fans of Angela Scanlon 's style for some time but this summer, the presenter has surpassed herself with her sunny sartorial choices. This Danielle Romeril palm-print dress is made more suitable for the British weather with a Racil blazer and completed with Charles Keith shoes and a Lulu Guinness glitter ball bag. Need.

Natasha Ndlovu

Off-the-shoulder is our go-to silhouette this summer and model/blogger Natasha shows us how it's done wisely on the highstreet with a Pretty Little Thing ruffled top, Topshop jeans and a fringed Zara bag.

Lucy Williams

Blogger and world wanderer Lucy Williams a.k.a. Fashion Me Now is frequently in far-flung destinations, so naturally she has one of the most enviable holiday wardrobes on the 'gram. Scroll through her profile for never-ending travel inspo – we couldn't help but pause on this ba&sh top, Levi's shorts, wicker bag and Urban Outfitters sandals combo. Spruce up your shorts with a patterned top, fun bag and elegant slip-ons.

Gala Gonzalez

If we were hanging out in the Hamptons on a jolly with Revolve clothing, this would be our choice of outfit too. Gala Gonzalez wears a pineapple-print Privacy Please dress over a white T-shirt teamed with block heel sandals. It's a yes from us.

Michelle Goldie

If you haven't heard of Michelle Goldie, familiarise yourself quickly. The South African beach babe turned Brit, is a fashion designer and the founder of Goldie, a London-based brand worn by Clara Paget and Cara Delevingne. Michelle's style is a bit Birkin with a hint of Chung and more often than not she's modelling her own brand in her snaps. Happy shopping!

Pernille Teisbaek

Just when we thought Pernille had struck gold with an outfit so good it made our eyes water, she goes and trumps herself with another killer look. Although the T-shirt is Loewe, the trousers are Céline and the bag Prada, this look could easily be mimicked on the high street. Be warned though, it is only for the brave, since white trousers, sunshine and ice-creams and/or cocktails is a dangerous combination.

Jessie Bush

Blogger Jessie Bush gives us a minimalism masterclass in her luxe basics, wearing a baggy white T-shirt, black Nobody Denim cropped skinny jeans, Gucci loafers and a Larsson and Jennings watch. Summer style doesn't need to be about loud colour – monochrome has never looked so good.

Phoebe-Lettice Thompson

Illustrated People's Creative Director Phoebe-Lettice has the kind of style you'd love to wear if you were just that bit more bold. Featuring lots of animal print, metallic and clashing colours, Phoebe's outfits are a ray of sunshine even when the weather's crap.

Last week Illustrated People opened a pop up in the heart of Brick Lane, stocking the latest collection as well as some treasures from past seasons and there's a Palm Vaults cafe and Keash Braids pop up too. Your sunny Saturday hangout sorted.

Jeanne Damas

With her big red pout, love of Breton stripes and slightly undone effortless chic, Jeanne Damas is our quintessential French style crush. And thankfully for our own wardrobes, Jeanne has started a label Rouje, which reinterprets classic Parisian girl pieces such as cute blouses and ruffled shirts, mini-skirts, flared jeans and flower print dresses. J'adore.
