Tonight marks the the 74th annual Golden Globes Awards — a star-studded event that honours the the best film and television programmes of the past year. Many eagerly anticipate the Globes as a precursor to the Oscars, but us beauty obsessees know to keep tabs on the red carpet for an inside look on the hair and makeup trends that will dominate 2017.

Last year, dozens of stars arrived in classically glamorous lookspristine waves, sleek ponytails, and fresh-faced makeup. This year, however, is shaping up to be a little more daring. Think: Emily Ratajkowski's matchy-matchy makeup, Kristen Bell's voluminous lob we'll be asking our hairstylists for, and Lily Collin's pink-meets-red look. Oh, and let's not forget about Millie Bobby Brown's sleek, sharp bob. What does all this mean? There's a whole lot of inspiration for you to check out going into 2017.

Ahead, see the best beauty looks from the Golden Globes red carpet.

Kerry Washington

If Washington's wine-stained lips, silky hair (courtesy of GHD's hairdryer and flat iron), and Marie Antoinette-esque dress aren't complete perfection, then we don't know what is.

Millie Bobby Brown

The Stranger Things star may only be 12-years-old, but she's totally schooling us on how to rock post-buzz-cut regrowth.

Janelle Monáe

The singer-songwriter keeps proving there is no limit to the accessories you can put in your hair — be it googly eyes or micro-pearls.

Maisie Williams

An easy way to add a chic touch to a looser, messier updo and tuck in shorter layers? A metallic barrette, clipped at the base.

Zoe Saldana

Saldana’s Golden Globes look is business in the front, party in the back, thanks to her minimal pinky-nude lip (a combination of both shades of this lip pencil) and ultra-long, wavy ponytail.

Emily Ratajkowski

We called it: Monochromatic makeup isn't going anywhere in 2017. Neither, it seems, is the faux bob. After separating Ratajkowski's hair into top and bottom sections, celebrity stylist Christian Wood braided her lower layers and tucked them underneath the rest of her hair before creating bends and waves with Uberliss' Flat Iron.

Olivia Culpo

Culpo got the matchy-matchy makeup memo, too.

Sarah Jessica Parker

SJP went for a milkmaid-meets-Grecian-goddess hairstyle that felt modern thanks to a clean center part.

Priyanka Chopra

The Quantico star stunned in a classic combo — gold and red — made moodier with the darker, matter lip shade courtesy of Laura Mercier's Velour Lovers Lip Colour in An Affair and Seduction.

Kristen Bell

The actress' voluminous lob is a refreshing transition from 2016's reigning hair trend: the textured bob.

Karrueche Tran

Tran's polished and architectural top knot is raising the bar for our lazy-day buns a whole lot higher.

Lily Collins

We don't know which we love more: Lily Collins' Rapunzel-like bun or her millennial pink shadow and red lip combo. Dying to recreate the look? The actress' makeup artist, Fiona Stiles, used Lancôme's Color Design Eyeshadow in Pink Pearls all over her lids and the brand's L'Absolu Rouge lipstick in Souvenir on her lips.

Jessica Chastain

Chastain went for a braided bun, too, but hers was more sleek and shiny than tousled. You're going to want a good hairspray with a laquer-like finish for this one.

Hailee Steinfeld

Steinfeld's makeup artist Melissa Hernandez used Giorgio Armani's Eye Tints in shades 8, 10, and 12 to create the star's lavender eye look that proved three is trend when it comes to monochrome makeup.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Barely-there base makeup is our favorite way to show off a bold lip. Makeup artist Jamie Greenberg mixed L'Oréal's Infallible Lip Paints in 322 and 324 to create the Golden Globe award winner's orangey-red lip.

Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood's look couldn't be further from her Westworld character Dolores' aesthetic, but we dig her short, barrel-curled 'do. Her hairstylist Peter Butler used Leonor Greyl's Mouse Au Lotus Volumatrice to thicken her pixie and hold the retro swoop in place.

Emma Stone

Stone's effortless updo proves that elegant looks don't have to be complicated.

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen looks luminous on every red carpet, but this time we know her secret: Makeup artist Mary Phillips used two different highlighters on Teigen's skin. First, she dusted Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Rose Gold onto the model's cheekbones, then she tapped a mixture of the brand's liquid highlighters in Topaz, Champagne Pop, and Rose Gold onto the apples of her cheeks, décolleté, and down her arms.
