The Golden Globes are supposed to be the fun awards show where people drink and say inappropriate things. But this year's Critics' Choice Awards was full of honest moments that either made you laugh or nearly made you cry.

When Judd Apatow got up to the mic to introduce Amy Schumer, the winner of the MVP Award, he said the show made up an award to get Schumer there. Whether that's true or not, the two-time Critics' Choice Awards winner for MVP and Best Actress in a Comedy used her time onstage wisely. Schumer introduced herself as a "plus, plus-size actress," stumped for gun control, and hit on Lily Tomlin, who she thought really should have won.

Schumer definitely wasn't the only highlight of the night, or the only person there for the underdogs. There was the adorable Jacob Tremblay of Room, a Christian Bale man-on-man make-out, a bittersweet first win for a TV actress we all know, and a very interesting shout-out to white males from the co-creator of Master of None.

Here are the five things you need to see from the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards. If you missed the show, get the highlights right here.

After introducing herself as "plus, plus-size actress Amy Schumer," the comedian talked about how happy she is now that she doesn't have to talk about how autobiographical Trainwreck is.

But whether it's about her own life or not, she was just happy to be honored for a movie she wrote. Running her hand across her tummy area, she said, "If you're an actress and have this area right here, you have to write your own stuff if you want to get it made."

Before joking how "brave" she was to talk about her body — which she displayed while posing nude for the Pirelli calendar — and talking about how we can end gun violence together, she admitted that her speech may have been boring some people: "Shut up, Amy, no one cares." Oh, but we do care, Amy, we do.

Netflix's new series Master of None won Best Comedy Series, and one of its creators thanked someone rather unexpected: all the straight white guys.

The show, created by Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang, is known for highlighting Hollywood's diversity problem, so it was a little unexpected to hear the shout-out. But Yang had his reasons.

"Thank you to those straight white guys who dominated movies and TV so hard and for so long that stories about anyone else seem kind of fresh and original," he said, laughing. "Because you guys just crushed it for so long."

"The reason I look so surprised is," Mayim Bialik said after winning Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for The Big Bang Theory, "I've actually never won anything."

It's the reason why she didn't prepare anything — "I didn't think I'd be up here" — but she did remember to thank her dad, who passed away nine months ago and was her "harshest critic."

"He never lived to see me win anything," she said. "So Abba, this is for you."

Hopefully Christian Bale, who won Best Actor in a Comedy for The Big Short, remembered his lip balm.

The actor managed to make out not only with his wife, but his director, Adam McKay, too. You might even say McKay was the real winner of this award, getting doubly smooched by the actor.

But Bale made sure to thank his wife and his daughter, who he says "kick him in the nuts" to keep him in line.

Jacob Tremblay was too cute with his speech for Best Young Actor/Actress. The little Room star, who couldn't even reach the microphone, thanked the critics, admitting it must have been a "super-hard vote because of all the other great actors in this category."

That was almost too much for the crowd to handle, but he continued being adorable, thanking team Room — "I think that us working together made this movie come true" — and his parents, whom he loves very much.

He ended his speech by revealing where he's going to keep his statue: "right on the shelf, next to my Millennium Falcon."
