Do you remember what your life was like when you were 21-years-old? If you ask us, we'd probably recall creating a CV, pulling all-nighters in the library, or party hopping with friends. Gigi Hadid, on the other hand, has spent her 21st year racking up major accolades. Not only was she named model of the year at the British Fashion Awards, but she also designed her first capsule collection with designer Tommy Hilfiger and starred in numerous campaigns with mass cosmetics brand, Maybelline.
When it comes to crafting a signature look, she's totally nailed it. Hadid's makeup and hair are the subject of constant fascination (and infatuation). Read: How is her hair so long and healthy? Does her skin ever get spots?! These are the questions we imagine are whispered across the lips of individuals all over the world. Her go-to beauty look, however, is easier to understand. In fact, nearly every time she hits the town or the red carpet she calls upon five signature looks. (Really!)

1. The Baby Kitten Flick
Gigi knows the power of a good ol' flick of liner. Thanks to one of her go-to makeup artists, Patrick Ta, Gigi has been sporting itty bitty, smoked-out wings both on the streets and on the red carpet.

Unlike a traditional cat-eye, which stretches across the entire upper lash line, Gigi's wings tend to focus on the outer third of the eyelid. "Just start the line in the middle of your eyeball and go outwards," Patrick Ta told Refinery29. Doing this will subtly lift and elongate the eye. Don't forget: A soft finish is key.

2. Glow City
Is it just us or does it look like the sun is always shining on Gigi?
Sure, she's already blessed with gorgeous cheekbones, but she definitely opts for a few taps of expertly-placed highlighter to boost her glow. However, when she goes fully chiseled and strobed, she keeps the rest of her face fairly neutral, besides that signature kitten flick.

3. Beach Babe Waves
Gigi's voluminous curls have become one of her trademarks — which she often pairs with luminous, bronzed skin. Hadid's natural hair texture has a slight bend to it, but to give it more volume and definition we're betting the glam squad throws a curling wand and some salt spray into the mix.

If you want to emulate Gigi's effortless, textured waves grab the wand of your choice and start curling your hair, making sure to avoid your ends. This will keep the texture from looking too polished. (Those with curly hair should first smooth out their ringlets.)
Once your whole head is done, generously mist your hair with some salt spray (we love this one) through your mid-lengths and ends, scrunching your hair as you go.

4. Sleek & Sporty Hair
When Gigi's not sporting her go-to beach waves, she usually opts for something sporty. Read: A polished updo that keeps her hair out of her face, a high braid, or a slicked back, '80s-inspire finish.

Whether you're going for a sporty ponytail or a sleek, wet-effect 'do, you'll need a pomade to smooth flyaways and create that a smooth finish (for medium to thick hair) or a light hairspray (for fine to medium strands).
This one from Oribe has a high-shine finish and excellent hold, or try the brand's lightweight hairspray. Tip: Make sure to warm the pomade in your hands before applying it to your hair to make the product more flexible. If you want more volume at your crown, use a thickening spray like Living Proof's Full Dry Volume Blast.

5. Go Big Or Go Home
Gigi may be known best for her relaxed or sporty hair and simple makeup, but the model has been known to glam out for a red carpet or two. And when she does, she commits to just one feature. (She either goes soft, or bold.)
From the metallic smoky eye you see here to the bright red lip and glass-like highlighter she wore at the Much Music Video Awards, Gigi knows how to make a statement with makeup.

The one rule she always follows? Never go bold on the eyes and the lips. That means if you're playing up your eyes, go minimal on the lips. or vice versa. Although we're fans of breaking this old-school rule anytime we want, there's no denying that the simplicity works well for Gigi.
