You could spend the rest of winter bundled away in one of your plain, black jackets again — or you could do the fun thing and try something new for a change.

Deciding to make a switch is step one. Step two? Well, that's much harder when you have to consider all the options out there, everything this potential new jacket needs to match with, and whether or not the one you've got your eye on will feel so 2016 in a few years. Sometimes, you need a second opinion...so, how about a gazillion more?

We asked our buds at Pinterest to share their data about the jacket styles that received the most pins from the past year. We've compiled them here (along with some shopping recommendations) so you can see the options that other people are also mulling over, which might help you in your own search. Cheers!

The Updated Bomber Jacket

The bomber silhouette has been a fashion-girl fave for several seasons (not to mention a cultural touchstone). Now, we're seeing them in eye-catching textures, prints, and colours. According to Pinterest, bomber jackets are trending up 263% — and this popular pick is (luckily) still available.

For a fresh take on the trend, velvet adds cozy texture in a mod jet-black.

Monki Velvet Bomber Jacket, £30, available at Asos.

Olive green with a bit of sheen makes a striking colour contrast with black accents.

Zara Contrasting Stretch Bomber Jacket, £29.99, available at Zara.

This luxe cranberry bomber jacket is definitely not basic.

& Other Stories Lustrous Bomber Jacket, £79, available at & Other Stories.

The Furry Coat

Sleek leather may be the look of fall, but plush and furry is what we're wearing all winter. Whether you're buying faux or a recycled-fur option, it's safe to say these voluminous jackets are having a moment.

What's the fun in faux fur if you don't play around with a little colour? Mango's grey option comes speckled with hints of navy.

Mango Faux Fur Jacket, £49.99, available at Mango.

Another faux-fur option in millennial pink to wear with all your slip dresses this season.

Reformation Piano Coat, $248 (£198), available at Reformation.

Swap out your basic black coat for this vanilla-hued blanket.

H&M Faux Fur Jacket, £49.99, available at H&M.

The Denim Jacket

This might seem like a simple spring piece, but layered under a leather jacket or winter coat, it creates textural contrast we can't get enough of.

Your basic denim gets a seasonal twist with a dark wash and some faux sheepskin lining.

Maje Borino Denim Jacket, $276.50 (£221), available at Maje.

A sherpa-lined option means you'll be warm and cosy — while still looking hella fly.

Madewell The Oversized Jean Jacket, £159, available at Madewell.

The Moto Jacket

The classic silhouette is not going out of style anytime soon — go for basic black (which pairs with everything) or a fun fabric to mix things up.

If you have the ££ to spend, Mackage's biker jacket will last decades.

Mackage Florica Jacket, $599 (£479), available at Aritzia.

Tired of basic black leather? Opt for tan suede.

The boxy cut and thin fabric means you can layer this under your winter coat — and over spring dresses come March.
