Amelia Liana's Beauty Resolutions

It's week three of January and it's more than likely that you've faltered with your New Year's resolutions, the weather is dismal, pay day is a lifetime away, Christmas cheer and festive merriment are a distant memory, you're fed up with Dry Jan and the 'Back To Work Blues' have fully taken hold. Ahhh, the first month of a new year, how joyous.

But even if you're feeling emotionally and physically wretched you can still look good. Beauty blogger, YouTube vlogger and social media star Amelia Liana shares her new year's makeup resolutions and tips for reconsidering your makeup bag, for a slicker and quicker beauty routine for 2016.

Strip back your routine

"My makeup bag this year is going to consist of multi-purpose products, lip and cheek stains, easy one-swipe eyeshadow crayons and tinted moisturiser with skincare benefits. All in all making makeup application really quick and simple."

Up your skincare game

"My new year's beauty resolution is to be more vigilant with my skincare routine. I’m ditching the moisturiser that includes SPF and using the two as separate steps, moisturiser followed by my beloved Clinique Even Better SPF, to ensure my skin remains hydrated and protected."

Invest in a serum

"A step I always forget is a serum and it makes such a difference to the feel and texture of my skin. My all time favourite has to be Chanel HydraBeauty Micro Serum, it feels almost gel-like on the skin, sinks in instantly yet adds an immediate glow and makes my skin look much more plump."

Use 2-in-1 products

"I’m switching things up in my makeup bag too. As I travel a fair bit I’m trying to minimise the products I have to lug around which means I’m encorportating a lot more multi-purpose products. Lip and cheek stains, like the Aerin Multi-purpose Colour, are perfect as it’s a two-in-one, a pop of natural colour for each."

Swipe on eye crayons

"Another quick and easy product is the By Terry Ombre Blackstar. They’re incredibly pigmented, creamy eyeshadow crayons that take mere seconds to apply. My go-to shade is shade 4 Bronze Moon as it’s a slightly pearly light brown that can be worn lightly in the day or be built up for more of an intense colour for the evening."

Ditch the BB cream

"As for what’s leaving my makeup bag, BB cream will have to be it. I’m more of a foundation girl and there are so many amazing sheer ones on the market, like Chanel’s newly-launched Les Beiges."

Experiment with colour

"I’m also trying desperately to steer away from my go-to peachy pink lip shades and try something more adventurous. I recently uploaded a tutorial with a brown lip colour (normally way out of my comfort zone!) but I ended up loving it. I feel like lipstick is the easiest, funnest way to experiment with colour and I can’t wait to try some new shades."
