Summer's a distant memory, winter's coming, and so on, so forth. Yes, we've heard it all before, it happens every year. To be honest, we're actually looking forward to colder weather and the prospect of investing in lots of layering, packing away summer stuff and discovering lesser-known brands before anyone else.
Your lumpy knits, misshapen jumpers and ancient duffle coat might not be the sexiest nor most sophisticated part of your wardrobe, so we're stepping in with some more stylish suggestions on how best to wrap up this season. Whether's its a shearling coat, a polo neck, a slogan knit or party wear, we've got all bases covered.
Shrimps
Over London Fashion Week SS17, Shrimps was the brand that all our favourite style stars were keeping warm in. From model Leomie Anderson to Alexa Chung via Clara Paget and Susie Bubble , Hannah Weiland's fun faux fur pieces were the only option when it came to (fluffy) outerwear.
Though we love the criss-cross pink and black jackets, this leopard print coat is straight out of a fashion fairytale, something Margot Tenenbaum would be proud of and top of our winter wishlist.
In an ideal world we'd layer it over the Marion jumper and Andre trousers , finished off with a Damsel clutch . There's no such thing as too much Shrimps.
Shrimps Claude leopard print faux-fur coat, £495, available at Matches Fashion
WAH x ASOS
Inspired in part by Princess Di's fly '90s style (think bomber jackets and Harvard shirts) and in part by WAH founder Sharmadean 's own enviable wardrobe as well as clothes that her friends Lotte Andersen and Genevieve Garner might wear, the new WAH x ASOS collection is everything your own wardrobe needs this autumn.
The perfect mix of high and low, there's a pink fuchsia dress and pinstripe suit that will see you through party season and a slouchy cricket jumper and colourful polo necks that are just what you'd want to wear on a winter weekend. Don't get us started on the footwear and accessories.
Form an orderly online queue when the collection drops on Monday 10th October at ASOS .
Teatum Jones
This London-based design duo won the International Womenswear Woolmark prize in February and kicked off LFW this September, so it's safe to say their star is on the ascent and they know their way around wool.
Whether it's statement coats, bold prints or form-fitting skirts and dresses you're into, Teatum Jones is a brand to drop into conversation with your chicest friends. But if there's one thing to check out first, it ought to be Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones' knitwear and this show-stopping, cut-out polo neck in particular.
Teatum Jones Hanley cut-out merino wool turtleneck sweater, £295, available at My Theresa
PSC
PSC founders Pia Hakko (she's the amazing artist who does our weekly Friday Film Club feature) and Pelin Yasar met in London while studying at Central Saint Martins. Soon after graduating, they launched PSC in 2013, quickly garnering a loyal fanbase for their playful designs with witty slogans and prints.
Pop.see.cul pink drink jumper, £115
Acne Studios
We'd wear this every day if we could. In fact, we'd probably sleep in it too. This chunky, oversized sweater with an intarsia knit star is surprisingly versatile and looks just as good with ripped boyfriend jeans and Converse as it does with a skirt and ankle boots.
Acne Saara star white star, £340

Coach 1941
When it comes to shearling jackets and snuggly, stylish outerwear, no one does it quite like Coach. From the varsity jackets to classic parkas, trenches and bikers, there's something for everyone or every day of the week.
Our top pick is this shearling teddy-bear coat, crafted to be lighter-weight and suitable for milder temperatures, lined with graphic polka dots and finished off with leather-wrapped buttons. Though it may not be not the cheapest coat option it will see you through this winter in style and many more years to come.
Coach 1941 short shearling coat with printed lining, £1595
Beaufille
If you haven't heard of this brand yet, take a moment now to swot up. Style mavens Camille Charrière , Jessie Bush , Pandora Sykes and Yasmin Sewell are all fans so get on board now while Beaufille (started by Canadian sister duo Chloé and Parris Gordon) is still a relative secret.
Beaufille's 'Portia' sweater is cut in a sleek one-shoulder silhouette – off-the-shoulder/one shoulder styles are still a big trend FYI – and the perfect way to make a statement with party dressing this season.
Beaufille Portia one-shoulder ribbed-knit turtleneck sweater, £125, available at Net-a-Porter
