Looking good at a festival is 90% down to just having a good time. We’re not feeling the outfits that are so put-together you can’t dance or run around having fun. Because contrary to pop-cultural belief, Glastonbury is not Paris Fashion Week. Which is worth remembering when you’re contouring your face with glitter and hand-fraying cut-offs just that little bit higher in your dressing-room-tent – and end up missing your favourite band.
We don’t adhere to style rules on a normal day, so a festival is like the last day of school before summer (i.e. tear up the book and stamp on it.) Handpicked from the lens operators on Worthy Farm, here’s our edit of the best looks at Glastonbury this year. Fashion victims, people who look uncomfortable, and anyone who called anything in, need not apply ;)
Happy Days indeed for Alexa Chung despite the mud bath. Our favourite festival style star wears a T-shirt dedicated to The Fonz, denim cut-offs, Hunter Chelsea boots, an American Apparel hoodie and a silver bomber jacket.
Photo: GETTY When you and your best pal look this good together you can't leave each other's side. Actress Gala Gordon and model Jessica Clarke wear matching neckerchiefs, black sunglasses and trusty Converse, styled to perfection.
Another dream duo is models Lily Donaldson and Suki Waterhouse pairing mud-splattered Hunter wellies with double denim and all black errything respectively.
Photo: Getty BFFs Portia Freeman and Daisy Lowe confirm that that the best Glasto accessory is your best mate. Portia wears River Island, Linda Farrow sunglasses and Converse.
When your blue beanie matches your blue braids. We like this, Cara Delevingne . We like this a lot.
Photo: Getty Suki Waterhouse is unperturbed by the sludge in Hunter wellies and a Hunter jacket over her mini floral dress.
Photo: Courtesy of Hunter Daisy Lowe wears a Coach T-Rex varsity jacket, bright blue saddle bag and pilot sunglasses.
Photo: GETTY When the weather is as temperamental as it is at Glastonbury Alexa Chung plays it safe in a purple Hunter waterproof, multi-coloured Etro knitted dress and Hunter wellies.
Photo: Rex It's not all about the classic wellie. Lottie Moss shows us that a Hunter Chelsea Boot is just as cool too. Moss Junior paired her ankle boots with a white Hunter clear smock, black shorts and reflective sunglasses. Lottie's evidently learnt a lot from big sis Kate on perfecting her festival look...
Photo: GETTY Remember how exquisite Lily Donaldson looked at the Vogue 100 Gala in a blood red Prada gown last month? Well, the supermodel proves then she can look just as good dressed down in a Hunter Original vinyl windcheater over a leather biker jacket, denim cut-offs, mud-splattered Hunter wellies and a Nike drawstring bag.
Photo: GETTY With a penchant for ripped sheer tights, plaid shirts and plenty of piercings and kohl, for almost a decade Alice Dellal has been the reigning queen of Brit grunge glamour. For Glasto the model, musician and muse went for barely there shorts, a check shirt, an army jacket under a grey Hunter smock and her gang's go-to uniform of Hunter wellies.
Photo: GETTY Wait, is this Coachella or Glastonbury?! Model Leomie Anderson looks ready for the beach in an American flag bikini top, high-waisted black denim shorts and Converse All Stars. We're into this look in a big way even if we do fear she'll catch a cold.
Poppy Delevingne is prepared whatever the weather with her masterclass in layering. We love her layered look, throwing on a hoodie to shelter from the rain, a red ruffled Topshop summer dress for instant prettiness, a Coach shearling-lined aviator jacket for warmth and matching Coach Moto hiker boots.
Photo: GETTY Only Alexa Chung has the legs and the gumption to wear spray-on, shiny trousers to Glasto – think of the queues for the portaloo and peeling those off! Teamed with a Barbour jacket, The Smiths jumper from Hades and Hunter wellies, Alexa gets an A+ from us.
Photo: GETTY Oh Edie Campbell . We can always count on you to show us how to do tomboy dressing exceedingly well. The model wears Coach 1941 PreFall 2016 Tea Rose sunglasses, Moto Hiker Boots and a Coach shearling Honey Drifter jacket finished off with loose-fitting, rolled-up black trousers.
Photo: GETTY Not one to be put off by blustery British winds, Daisy Lowe stepped out in a thigh-skimming Coach 1941 PreFall 2016 Rexy Dress, Saddle Bag and Pilot Sunglasses.
Photo: GETTY Like what you see? How about some more R29 goodness, right here?
