When it comes to trying the biggest trends of the season IRL, it’s never quite as easy as it seems. Few of us want to be the first person to rock that tracksuit to brunch with our friends, or to dig through that '90s keepsake box for the choker we’ve been saving from secondary school. It’s not that we need permission to do it — more like we need evidence that it’s actually a thing that’s being done in the first place (and by people who love fashion as much as we do).

Luckily for us, there’s plenty of evidence in the form of celebrity street style. Big stars are wearing the same under-the-radar trends we’ve been mulling over. Here, an arsenal of styling tips for the fashion trends we’re going to be all over this summer.

Chokers

The '90s trend we can’t get enough of? Chokers! It’s just the thing to amp up your jeans and T-shirt, but also the perfect pairing for your date-night slip dress or your down-to-there neckline for a night out dancing on tables with your best girlfriends.

Layer your accessories like Poppy Delevingne, piling on black, gold, and everything in between when heading out for the night.

Miranda Kerr takes advantage of the extra neckline real estate provided by her off-the-shoulder top (the other hottest summer trend to hit the celebrity set ) by adding a thick choker to her look. This simple (but inches thick) necklace alternative is just the thing your accessories collection has been craving.

Keep it simple with a black necklace, à la trendsetter Taylor Swift (it goes especially well with her new edgy look!). D.I.Y. a choker with a ribbon or chain, or opt for a '90s-style stretch weave. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Denim Dresses

Denim is a no-brainer all year round. But with each passing season, the question arises: How are we going to make it new and different? This summer, the answer is the dress. Be it a tailored shirtdress or a sexy mini silhouette, denim is the name of the game when it comes to your one-and-done summer piece this year.

Bella Hadid proves that denim can be edgy with this skintight tank dress, complete with a full front zipper. Plus, she keeps her going-out look casual with a pair of flat black combat boots in lieu of heels.

Karlie Kloss keeps it cool in a denim dress for a stroll on the town. She styles her mini with a pair of classic white sneakers and mirrored sunglasses: perfect for everything from a midday meeting to summertime happy-hour drinks.

Okay, okay, we know model Taylor Hill happens to be barefoot (we’re still not totally sure why…), but her denim-dress statement look is all we need to focus on. We love the perfect sexy hint of a lace bralette (she is a Victoria’s Secret Angel, after all!) from the open neckline.

Off-the-Shoulder

Surprise! No one seems to be over the off-the-shoulder silhouette. And how could we give up this elegant summer look when it’s styled so effortlessly for morning, noon, and night?

Kourtney Kardashian keeps it casual with a body-hugging striped top tucked into ripped boyfriend jeans.

Look no further than Dakota Fanning for your next summertime brunch outfit. Her ruffled off-the-shoulder dress is one-and-done perfection, especially when paired with mirrored aviators and low-top sneakers.

Vanessa Hudgens styled the look for a dressier affair, choosing a more revealing shoulder-baring number and pairing it with strappy stilettos.

Tracksuits

We’re taking the athleisure trend to the next level this summer, trading our leggings and tank tops for full throwback sets from the '90s and '00s. Yes, we’re talking TLC-level Adidas sets, styled by the 20-something Hollywood set.

Bad Gal RiRi goes for the nighttime take on the tracksuit, choosing an embellished pant-and-jacket combo and styling her look with heels.

Kendall Jenner opts for slightly more tailored half-zip, wide-leg pants, paired with pointed-toed shoes for a sporty look that’s still appropriate for nearly every off-duty event.

Bella Hadid keeps her look athletic with a crop top and sneakers, though we’re fairly certain she’s headed nowhere near a gym.

Yellow

Yellow is the perfect colourful summer solution for rainbow lovers and colour-shy dressers alike—bright enough to put some pep in your step, yet more understated than a fire-engine-red number.

Gigi Hadid keeps it simple for a night out with a figure-hugging pencil dress. Elegant yet whimsical, dare we say this Hadid may have found this summer’s alternative to the LBD?

Elegant Kirsten Dunst evokes images of Grace Kelly in a pale yellow shirtdress. She certainly makes a convincing argument for looking back to the '50s from time to time.

Blake Lively makes velvet work for warmer weather by choosing a midi dress with waist tie. While she looks perfectly elegant in strappy sandals and statement earrings, it’s easy to transition her look into daytime wear by opting for flats and throwing your hair up in a topknot.
