Forget Coachella, us Brits bloody love a festival and we know how to do them well. Whether you're into getting down and dirty in a distant, muddy field for days on end, looking for family-friendly festivities, or just an afternoon of chart-topping fun a stone's throw from home, we've got all bases covered.

To aid your decision making (for we really are spoilt for choice), we've put together a comprehensive list of the best UK summer festivals, with dates, prices and personality traits attached. See you in there!

If You Want A Wild Weekend Away

Started in 2015 by the boys behind Disclosure and Rudimental, Wild Life was guaranteed to be a good time and won Best New Festival at last year's awards. This year's headliners are Disclosure and Rudimental, naturally, but the guys are joined by James Bay, Busta Rhymes, Skepta, Kaytranada and De La Soul in the stellar second ever lineup.

Wild Life takes place on June 11th-12th at Brighton City Airport. Day tickets start from £65.

If You Want To Stay in The City

Want to enjoy the festival experience but can't be bothered to leave the city, let alone camp? We hear you. Head to Field Day, Lovebox, British Summer Time or Wireless and still get home in time to put your feet up with a cup of tea before bed. James Blake and PJ Harvey are headlining Field Day in Viccy Park this summer, while Lovebox also held in Victoria Park is headlined by LCD Soundsystem, Major Lazer and Jungle. Kendrick Lamar, Florence + the Machine and Jamie xx are some of the big draws to the British Summer Time shows in Hyde Park and Wireless ' lineup is led by Calvin Harris, The 1975, Miguel and Boy Better Know.

If You Want To Eat Good Food

If you can't think of anything worse than drunken ravers and revellers as far as the eye can see, then settle into something a bit more chilled and appetising at Jamie Oliver's Big Feastival on Alex James’ Farm in The Cotswolds. This year Tinie Tempah, Mark Ronson and Roisin Murphy are all playing, but the main event, in our humble opinion, is the mouthwatering selection of food on offer.

Many of our favourite TV chefs such as Raymond Blanc, Gennaro Contaldo, Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain and Jamie Oliver will be making appearances and doing cooking demos, and there's also a wellness kitchen, a cookery school, a cheese hub and stall upon stall of street food. Welcome to food heaven.

The Big Feastival takes place from 26th-28th August. Day tickets start from £59

If Your Guilty Pleasure Is Pop

Let's be honest, we've all secretly danced along to Justin Bieber and this summer the "Sorry" singer is headlining V festival – along with Rihanna and Sia. If you're into chart toppers, this is the festival for you as the biggest names in pop play in celebration of V's 21st birthday. Craig David, Little Mix and All Saints are some other acts we're not remotely ashamed to admit we're excited about as well.

V Festival takes place on 20th-21st August in Chelmsford and Staffordshire. Day tickets start from £89.

If You're A Seasoned Festival Goer

Glastonbury is undoubtedly the reigning king of UK festivals and this year's five-day fest is headlined by Muse, Adele and Coldplay. Though the headliners have been criticised for being a little lacklustre, highlight acts include Foals, Skepta, Hinds, PJ Harvey and Disclosure. If you weren't able to get a ticket (we were there clicking refresh too) invite your mates round with a couple of six packs and tune into the BBC's live coverage. Great music minus muddy fields.

If You Want To Chill Out

While the majority of festivals feature rock, pop and EDM lineups, Green Man is a folky independent music and arts festival held in the Brecon Beacons, Wales, and ceilidhs, all-night bonfires and secret performances all add to the festival's special spirit.

This year James Blake, Warpaint, Belle & Sebastian and Laura Marling take to the stage but there's also a host of stand-up comedians, film screenings and poetry performances.

Green Man takes place between 18th-21 August. Standard tickets start at £175.

If You're After A Family Festival

Latitude, in Suffolk, is summer’s leading family-family festival with action-packed kids' areas as well as a brilliant lineup for adults including The Maccabees, Father John Misty, New Order and Chet Faker. Last year the festival celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Latitude takes place from 14th-17th July. Day tickets start from £84.50

If You Want To Glamp Rather Than Camp

Winners of Best Hospitality at last year's UK Festival Awards, Wilderness' Boutique campsite offers a huge variety of luxury accommodation options from Yurts to beautiful Gypsy Wagons. If a 20 quid tent from Halfords isn't going to cut it then Wilderness is the festival for you. Held in a nature reserve in Oxfordshire, it's refined, relaxing but with a little bit of rave thrown in for good measure for party-goers. Choose from great live music, workshops, theatre, debates and wellbeing sessions to fill your weekend.

Wilderness takes place from August 4th - 7th. General camping tickets start from £177.

If You Want Some Culture

Located in a little corner of Cornwall, Port Eliot celebrates words, music, ideas, nature, food, fashion and exploration with a diverse programme of entertainment. Whether it's watching a literary act on the Bowling Green, a performer at the Park Stage, canoeing on the river, enjoying a gig in the church, joining a cooking demo on the Flower & Fodder Stage, or a fashion show in the Wardrobe Department, there's really something for everyone. This year's lineup includes Noel Fielding, Stephen Jones, Erol Alkan, Rick Stein and Gloria Steinem.

Port Eliot takes place from 28th July-31st. Day tickets start from £60.

If You Like Fancy Dress

For some, a proper festival must include fancy dress and donning an outfit so ridiculous your friends won't even recognise you. If that floats your boat, head to Bestival and/or Secret Garden Party. This year Bestival, on the Isle of Wight from the 8th-11th September, is headlined by Major Lazer, The Cure and Hot Chip and er, the Chuckle Brothers. The theme for 2016 is 'the future', so bring your best.

Primal Scream pave the way at Secret Garden Party which takes place 21st-24th August, and this year's theme is The Gardeners Guide to The Galaxy. Get ready to get lost in space.
